Good afternoon...Received an invitation from another member, and would like to thank her personally...Thank you Sherri...
So...A little about me...I'm 35 and have been married for 3 years. My husband Alan & I have been ttc for almost 2 years now, and quickly realized we were having issues. I have been through all the tests and SA's and there are only a few things that show some potential isues in us conceiving, but none enough to make it impossible. Well, with time not being our friend, we opted to get aggressive, and have opted to try our luck at IVF. We went through our first cycle in October 2006. We had 15 eggs retrieved, but only 6 were mature, which might indicate the protocol or timing of the retrieval wasn't ideal. Anyway, we had ICSI performed, and had zero fertilization rate. Two of the 6 did develop a second polar body, but did not decondense or activate. This happens to about 1% of those going through IVF, so it was pretty devistating, and very lonely for quite a bit. Then, I found a couple more ladies that had the same thing happen. The one, right after me, and the other was on her 2ww after her second IVF. The fact that she had a 2ww was awesome news for DH & I. They had fertilization their second time round, and it turned out it was a protocol issue, and a fluke. I'm about to enter my second cycle (currently on BCP's), and am hoping and praying we too had a fluke situation occur, and things will be completely different this cycle. I take my last bcp tomorrow (Jan 2nd), go for my baseline scan and preliminary b/w on Friday, and start stims on Saturday. The RE is using a totally new protocol, which includes no down-regging and quite aggressive stimulants. I'm a little nervous but also excited, of course. I plan on starting acupuncture here soon too. I have to make a call tomorrow to schedule my first appointment, but am having a hard time finding anyone that specializes in infertility, but am going to contact my clinic to see if they are aware of any in the area...If not, my husband works with a man whose wife is an acupuncturist here in our city, so I think I'll pursue an appointment with her. I don't really have any questions right now, but I'm sure I will very soon. However, if there are any questions anyone else might have in the area, you are more than welcome to ask...I'm not sure what more to say, except thanks again for the invite, Sherri, hello to all others, and I look forward to getting to know you ladies. Take care, and here's to babies to all in 2007!! |
