I didn't donate my eggs but I did use an ED. I can tell you from an IP point of view if that helps any.

The ED must go through all the same testing as a GS (so you could reuse the lab stuff). She then takes BCP to match up with the carrier, then stims to increase the number of follicles (follistim is most common) for about 10+ days. During this time you are required to get daily level checks and U/S to check your progress.

Depending on the RE once your follies reach their required size then you take the trigger shot and 36 hours later they do the retrieval. Our ED said it was a piece of cake and she had no pain at all. I'm sure everyone has a different experience. We retrieved 24 eggs.

I'm sure you can get lots of other points of views from people that have actually went through it. Like I said I can only give you what my ED told us. But it's like anything, some people require an invasive procedure fee for a sonohyst, but our GS said it wasn't any worse than having a pap.

Maybe you can find a thread here started by someone that has done ED and ask them specifically, sometimes everyone doesn't have a chance to read every thread so you may not get a lot of responses, so keep looking.

Good luck to you!!!

Hey I just wanted to add......If you would like to do the ED also...why dont you try being a TS. Then you wouldnt have to go through the extra things a GS does or an ED.

Just a thought. If the part of carrying the baby that is part of you would be the hard part, I understand that. Just thought I would throw that out to ya.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I have used a ananymous egg donor so she did not tell me about the pain.I did ask the ED coordinator if it was really painful and she said that it was not bad they give them some sedation and they are in wheelchair after the procedure and able to walk soon after. Most ED can and do donate up to six times

Sorry that I cant help you much Lbabe84 is getting ready to go through a retrival where she will keep half the eggs and donate the other half . I will call and tell her to let you know when she goes through this process and how it is.

Good Luck . I think you are doing a awesome thing
