Hi,
I'm Elaine better know as Flight 1962. We had a failed transfer. I was wondering how many failed transfers can we expect before we are successful? What will increase our chances of having our embryos stick?
Although we had 23 eggs retrieved only 12 fertilized and after the PGD only 3 made it to the transfer day. We transfered 1 embryo and froze 2. Have you ever had frozen embryos stick and stay 40 weeks. What am I saying, you must have. If our frozen embryos don't stick we may have to start all over again, as we will have no more embryos.
Thanks for the information and advice.
Hugs,

Well Hun, we transferred 2x and no pregnancy. The first a fresh the second a frozen. Both were chemicals, see siggy. I know a lot didn't get preggo till 3rd transfer and some get preggo with the 1st. Some frozen, some fresh. It's all luck of the draw.
Good luck next time. Sorry to hear the eggies weren't too many.

Hi,
I was wondering how many failed transfers can we expect before we are successful?
Honestly, there is no right answer for this one. It is literally out of our hands once the transfer is done. There is no set number before a success. For instance, I have transferred twice and gotten pregnant the first time with both transfers. It does not happen like that for everyone. It could just as easily have a different result the next time for me. It is totally out of our hands (ours and the RE's) once the procedure is performed.
What will increase our chances of having our embryos stick?
What other procedures will your clinic be doing? With a frozen transfer, most will do Assisted Hatching. This procedure is explained more here with pictures included. http://www.advancedfertility.com/hatchima.htm

Elaine, my heart goes out to you and your family. Again, with performing such a procedure as IVF and the variations in protocols, quality of embroyos, etc, there is NO guarentee that it will work the first, second, or even third time. The best advice I could give is to consult with your clinic regarding what additional procedures that will be done to assist in the frozen transfer's success. BIG HUGS and best wishes for this cycle!

We were successful on our second transfer. Our first transfer failed than the RE did a biopsy on me to check for integrin ("glue" that your lining creates) to make sure that my lining was able to hold the embies...I had it and one month later we did our transfer and were successful. Sometimes it's just luck of the draw when it comes to the embies.
Good luck!!

Transferring only 1 embryo greatly reduces your odds for a successful transfer, in my experience.
1st surro - transferred 7, 4 stuck, 1 absorbed, carried 3 to term
2nd surro - transferred 2, 1 stuck, carried 1 to term
3rd surro - transferred 3, 3 stuck, 1 reduced, carried 2 to term
4th surro - transferred 1, no pregnancy
Also, transferring 1 embryo at 5 days is not so good. Probably optimum results would happen at 3 days, but again, these are just my opinions looking at my own success rates.
