baby adems' birth story(long)
well while i have some peace and quiet i thought id go for it.so here goes,im sure cat will post her own story when she gets time.
so we were at the hospital for a scan on wed 15th sept which went fine and baby was to be born via c-section on 18th.well this little one had other ideas,i woke up thurs morning feeling a trickle down my legs and when i stood up quickly realised my waters were going,having never experienced this before i also had no idea just how much would continue to pour out either!so Cat,my im had driven all the way back home from the scan and heres me having to phone her at 4am!She said as soon as she saw my phone no come up she knew though.
hubby thought i was joking when i woke him up,it didnt take him long to realise though!And then we headed up to hospital.we got there about 5am and it seemed ages before we were seen,anyway i was monitored for about 30 mins and then the doc did an internal,which wasnt very nice!I wasnt dilated at all so they said i would be getting section about 9am with being first on the list,i was then tranfered to the observation area,cat and os got there about 7.30 fearing they had missed everything and we thought we only had a short wait,but there was a hiccup.the doc had forgotten to give me antacid so they said just to be on the safe side i would now be done second,we were dissappointed but didnt figure we had long to wait,until 2 emergencies came in that is!we were trying to be understanding but by this point i was getting some contractions and getting a bit irritable.
Anyway at about 1pm we were told it was our turn and we all walked along to the theatre together feeling really excited.I was getting nervous at this point as getting the spinal always freaks me out and they were taking agaes to set up or so it seemed.then they started the spinal which i found really uncomfortable and took about 4 attempts,by the time it was done my bp was dropping and i was shaking really bad,cat and os looked really freaked out.Because my bp was so low they tried stabilising it but i ended up feeling sick anyway until they gave me something for nausea,then it was all go,before we knew it i could feel the tugging and then pressure to get baby out,god i was bricking it at that point,but when they held adem up for us to see i was just ecstatic and when i looked at cat and os they were in tears.it was so emotional,when they held their son for the first time,it was awesome.Baby adem weighed 6ilb 10oz and came out screaming,the picture of health with a mop of thick dark hair and looking beautiful.cat and os stayed with me while i was getting stitched up and then we all went to the recovery area on labour ward,i dont think any of us could take it all in and looking at this little boy i felt immensely proud of myself having created a family and i knew id done the right thing,not a single doubt in my mind about that.
Later at visiting time hubby came up with the kids and everyone got a hold and pics done,it was wonderful.cat stayed overnight in post natal ward with adem but the next day labour ward was so full that she was asked to leave as adem had a full bill of health.that bit was tough,i wasnt prepared for how emotional i would feel and when cat handed me this beautiful inscribed bracelet i just dissolved!A litter later on os got the camcorder out and i could feel the flood gates opening and when it was time to say goodbye we were all in tears and i think i cried non stop for about 2 hours after that.
The next day (yesterday) i just wanted to go home and figured id get more rest anyway.Im tired and bit sore but im doing away fine and looking forward to seeing everyone again when they come up to register the wee fella.its been such an emotionally charged time and with my hormones up in the air i know im in for a tough couple of weeks but i just have to picture the look on ossies face as he tenderly kissed his son to know i have done an amazing thing and i cant wait to do it all again with the sibling project!
